ABOUT

Always drawn to create, it all started in high school art class when I decided to get a Fine Art degree in graphic design. Very quickly after college I knew that computers and office life were not for me. Living in Chicago in my early 20s sort of floundering between jobs, I finally decided to take seriously a daydream I always had about getting behind the chair and doing hair for a living. In the end taking my daydream seriously was one of the best decisions I ever made.

A move to Denver in 2007 coincided with the beginning of my career as a hairstylist. After hair school, I was lucky enough to be accepted into an advanced education program at The Parlour salon. There I learned from a group of some of the most talented stylists in the country who laid the groundwork that served as a platform to build a clientele and career on. The learning continued year after year as I was able to participate in advanced education from American Crew, Vidal Sassoon, Nick Arrojo, and many other talented educators. In 2013 I began to teach men's haircutting to newcomers within the salon education program.

As an artist and after 10 years behind the chair, hair is my medium and I continue to be inspired by this industry, and the people who sit in my chair. I do this work with a high level of integrity for each and every client and their specific needs. Everything I do with hair is always about achieving the desired outcome while maintaining the highest level of integrity and health of the hair. So much of why I do this every day is about the spark I can see on a client's face when they are in love with their hair, and it's making them feel great. Specializing in balayage, blondes, and fine hair,  I am a certified Master Color Expert by the Wella Studio in Los Angeles, as well as Vidal Sassoon certified in cutting.

I look forward to meeting you at Reve Salon! Find out more about what I'm up to both in and out of the salon on Instagram @aprilmarkley.hair
